Nature and education | Being outdoors and enjoying the best of the Rural and hidden countryside and coastal beauty of NE Wales with my dog and supporting many projects and schools find the wonder of biodiversity, and Nature on their doorsteps through forestry schools and education, helps raise awareness around both Climate and Food Poverty concerns regionally.
Horse Riding and Wildlife | I am an experienced Horse rider and have an infinity to wildlife, but due to my disabilities and work commitments, I do not feel I have the time and commitment to fully support this at this time but do sponsor and support some local charities that help our coastal and rural fauna and flora.
Heritage and Culture | I welcome supporting people to change the way they think about Heritage and Culture and its importance in the wider scheme of life, whilst tackling some of the most pressing socio-demographic concerns regionally and nationally. Heritage is all around us, and without us knowing and appreciating where we have been how can we know and plan where we are going?
Community | I welcome supporting people to change the way they think about Heritage and Culture and its importance in the wider scheme of life, whilst tackling some of the most pressing socio-demographic concerns regionally and nationally. Heritage is all around us, and without us knowing and appreciating where we have been how can we know and plan where we are going? By bringing people together for the joint purpose of sharing stories and memories, it not only introduces new people to its culture but promotes organic intergenerational learning, and is fully inclusive to all people of all ages, interests, and backgrounds. It also helps promote more community ownership and links people together to aid isolation and social inclusion issues.
Through my organisation I also like to go the extra mile for other community organisation, and funnel profits through to Grassroot organisations to help support their growth and help young people learn key skills through teamwork and friendship, and through one of the teams we support they have represented Wales on the worldwide stage at Wheelchair rugby. |
|
Special interest | Being the Daughter of a veteran has given me an insight into the armed forces that many do not understand. I have even created a support structure within each of my organisations to ensure that “No person is left behind” – Soldier, Veteran, Family, or Child. And carry this ethos every day in everything I do.
Music and Art | I respect and enjoy Music and Art from all genres and enjoy going to festivals and concerts of all types to converse and enjoy the atmosphere with mutually thinking individuals. Art and Music of all types make the world go around and bring people together, and in both real life and the world of work, they add soft skills into STEM learning bringing Science, Technology, and Maths to life, and adding emotion to a wide variety of people or helps people bring their vision to life on the screen. |
Vicki is an established recruitment, skills, and training professional with over 30 + years of expertise within the industry, specialising in the support of disadvantaged individuals, and some of those deemed most at risk in our community, whilst developing and recruiting some of the most Niche sectors throughout the UK.
Vicki is the proud owner and Founder of Enbarr Enterprises Limited and recently established Enbarr Foundation CIC, which is a much-needed initiative to help establish collaboration and skills advancement to build the local economy and growth agenda, whilst also aiding promote quality and entrepreneurship within the community and niche, heritage, tourism and technological sectors for Flintshire and promoting growth for wider North Wales.
As a Disabled Entrepreneur, she thrives to succeed, leaves no stone unturned, and is a true inspiration to others suffering from ill health or in need of that extra bit of support.
In the words of one of her greatest supporters – So proud of my youngest sister Vicki, who has several disabilities and in her early 30s had cancer, then unfortunately got it again in her early 40’s. After a traumatic treatment plan and recovery, she developed a dream to have her own business. In the early part of the 2010’s she “persuaded” me to back her, and so Enbarr (named after Manannan’s horse) took flight in 2014. Since then, I have observed first-hand the real “start-up” lifestyle of unbelievably hard work, 7 days a week commitment, no holidays (other than our trips to Wet Music Festival weekends a couple of summers ago), and an amazing passion and determination for what she and her team do.
She has grown as a businessperson and leader and learned a lot along the way, often through difficult and challenging experiences, and even excelled through Covid to help support others and bring a community together in the harshest of climates.
Above all, she has shown amazing determination and resilience. Differing government bodies have strongly supported her growth and helped her accelerate it, and even asked her to be a Role Model for many of their initiatives. In 2018 she founded Enbarr Foundation a Social Enterprise to give back to her community on Deeside and Surrounding Areas.
Vicki has used, what others may consider drawbacks, and her adverse and troubled childhood to inspire her to follow her Dream, and in doing so, she has helped many others get back on their feet and launch new careers, or even support others who have lost their way.
As a result, Vicki’s determination has been recognised in becoming the 1st Disability Confident Leader in North Wales and 1 of 302 Nationally, and most recently gaining the Gold Employer Engagement Accreditation from the Armed Forces Covenant being one of a select few to have both her organisation Gold Accredited out of the 602 throughout the UK.
Vicki’s work and organisations are not just based in Alyn and Deeside in Flintshire but she has invested a high amount of its profits back into social projects and support locally; a driven social entrepreneur with a passion for leading social business purpose with a ‘can do’ attitude. She’s a talented visionary and strategist who can quickly grasp the bigger picture to deliver sound economic and well-being results with commercial acumen. A strong community ethos and upfront communicator, she’s a dream big thinker with a fire in the belly drive for credible social business excellence.
Complimenting her commercial acumen is over 20 years of social business experience, specifically in the sectors of mental health, addiction, young people, community, disability, and training, with numerous awards and accolades along the way.
The reasons for wanting to be involved in investing in future generations are simple; I know first-hand the challenges and biases that young people and business setups face, alongside the postcode snobbery that occurs with some of the brightest minds, but also can help them develop and appreciate what ethical practice, along with enterprise viability can bring to a region.
A Graduate of both Business, Marketing, and Engineering, Vicki holds high-level qualifications in Stud and Farm management which is close to her heart. As a qualified City and Guilds NVQ Assessor
Vicki is passionate about ensuring the right skills and chances are given to the local communities and people no matter where they live, and what backgrounds they have, and especially to strive to Champion the underdog.
Vicki has sat on several Boards of charities over the years and was instrumental in her time at NYAS as a tender writer in 2010 / 2011 being one of the driving forces behind them gaining direct submission status on the training program and starting the National Participation Programme, as well as being an Ambassador for the Welsh Government for skills with both Aerospace / Space Wales forum, as well as being part of the Big bang team bringing “STEM” to life for people of all ages.
Vicki is recognised as a pioneer in community-based approaches to tackling many sociodemographic concerns alongside business incubation playing a major role in the management and development of both the social enterprise sector and key niche innovation sectors across the UK and abroad including Space, Aerospace, and Advanced Manufacturing, and Tourism and Diversity for which she has won and been nominated for several awards.
Vicki will be bringing her vast skills of creativity, blue-sky thinking, and energy to the table so that through Reform UK we can help empower our communities to create the change to raise our region within North Wales and beyond.
